Damage Calculator
Calculate damage ranges for any Pokémon matchup
Frequently Asked
How does the Pokémon Damage Calculator work?
The calculator uses the official Pokemon damage formula: ((2×Level/5+2) × Power × Atk/Def) / 50 + 2, multiplied by STAB, type effectiveness, and a random factor (0.85–1.0). Results show the min-max damage range.
What is STAB in the Pokémon Damage Calculator?
STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) gives a 1.5× damage multiplier when the move type matches one of the attacker's types. For example, Pikachu using Thunderbolt (Electric move) gets STAB because Pikachu is Electric-type.
How is type effectiveness calculated?
Type effectiveness is based on the official Pokemon type chart. Super effective moves deal 2× damage, not very effective moves deal 0.5×, and immune types take 0 damage. Dual-type defenders can have multipliers of 4× or 0.25×.
What does OHKO and 2HKO mean?
OHKO means One-Hit Knock Out — the move deals enough damage to defeat the defender in a single hit. 2HKO means it takes two hits. This helps you understand if a Pokemon can be defeated before it gets to attack.
Does this calculator account for abilities and items?
This calculator uses base stats only and does not factor in abilities (like Huge Power), items (like Choice Band), or EVs/IVs. It gives a baseline estimate of damage output for quick comparisons.
